Blessed Assurance

“Blessed Assurance” is a Christian hymn written in 1873, with text by Fanny Crosby and music by Phoebe Knapp. According to the well-documented account, Crosby composed the words after hearing Knapp play the melody on the organ. Its opening line — “Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!” — made it one of the most sung hymns in the English-speaking world, and it remains a standard in hymnals and worship sets today.
